WeWork, the shared office space start up transformed select office spaces into 90’s themed internet cafes as an experiential activation for the National Geographic mini series “Valley of the Boom”. In December 2018, thirteen cafes spread across the country were decked out with retro arcade games, 90’s decor and 90’s era computers loaded with classic games of that decade. M1 was approached by long time client and collaborator Berlin Cameron to create working versions of the 90’s computers complete with games for these cafes. Brian Dressel, President and Mike Wszalek, Technical Director searched everywhere both online and in local thrift stores to track down old PCs. Once enough were found they were gutted, rebuilt and loaded up with all the best PC games of the 90’s. Guests of the WeWork/Valley of the Boom Cafes could play games such as Paperboy 2, Arkanoid, Duke Nukem 3D and more.
